For my sins I am delivering the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre’s weekly seminar this Friday May 20 at 13.00.

Wednesday May 25 The Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre’s Annual Meeting
 Leggate lecture theatre at the Victoria Gallery and Museum.

There will be three very exciting guest speakers: Dario Alessi from the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit, Dundee, Gareth Thomas, Professor of Experimental Pathology from the School of Medicine, University of Southampton, and Steve Jackson from the Gurdon Institute, Cambridge.
A combination of great talks and another chance to network.

Don’t forget the weekly series of talks at the Cancer centre, generally on Fridays at 13.00

NWCRF annual Symposium and AGM

The North West Cancer Research Fund annual sympiosum and AGM on Wednesday May 11 were most enjoyable. The morning of science talks was very stimulating and reflected some of the strengths of cancer research in the region: DNA repair, metastasis and the tumour microenvironment. It was great to have the chance to chat to colleagues. For some reason we need events of this type to be able to talk without an agenda. We don’t really get sufficient opportunities to do this, yet it is exactly this type of discussion that will throw up new ideas.
